During 2020 COVID period, the international logistics and supply chain was suspended, leading to shortage of food, toilet roll, etc. This leads us to reflect is our food production chain sustainable or not by importing.
In 2021, Taiwan has been hit by its worst drought in 56 years and since April 6, the island's government has imposed water rationing on areas, with water supplied for five days a week and shut down for two days. There was no typhoon since 2020 and less rainfall in 2021. It is a fact that climatic change is coming to a irreversible point that draws our attention.
We start to have an idea - can we grow our own food? Considering carbon footprint of all imported veggie, it's definitely a more sustainable way to grow locally. Considering limited land and time in Hong Kong, automated robots can 24/7 help us monitor the farm and maintain it. Our machine can work with small piece of land. Every small steps count. Efforts of everyone in the community also count.
